You don’t even have to love the outdoors or working in the garden to see the appeal of these little work horses. They are so cute that those who might be afraid to drive a car on the open road will be tempted to buy one in order to go shopping at the local mall. This is not the most powerful compact tractor you can get but at 8.5Hp, you will be able to carry up 400 pounds or 181Kg of load. If you easily feel bored, you will be pleased to know that you can carry a passenger with you on this vehicle. It will be interesting to see how fast you can go racing from one location to another just because it can be fun. You must be willing to pay $5,600 for your vehicle. You will only get a cargo box of 5 cubic feet which doesn’t come with an electric lift. That is for those who are too lazy to unload manually. That said, if you have been busy all day, having a utility vehicle with an electric lift is a neat feature to have. You will also not get 4×4 wheel drive but a little rear traction that will help you out of trouble spots. You will not be getting an electric lift at this price but you will have more fun.

You will get 675cc 15.5Hp engine. That sounds like a lot of power but what does it mean? You will not be going faster than the TS vehicle. You might feel that some engineer got his numbers mixed up by making the top speed of the compact utility tractor ease off at 20mph. Why would you need to go faster on a utility vehicle? That appears to be a well thought out question but going faster can be fun but not sensible. To compensate for that (lack of speed) you will get a two cylinder Kawasaki engine. That probably doesn’t mean much but here is the deal. You will get a 454kg towing capacity. This also means that all the power will allow you got carry up to 272kg or 600lb in the cargo box. There is something strange about John Deere not adding automatic lift to all their range of utility vehicles. Do you get cruise control with this vehicle? You must be really dreaming if you think a work horse compact vehicle must come with cruise control. Can you imagine the dangers that can cause? Another thing to bear in mind with this tractor is that you will not get more than 32km or 20mph even with your feet all the way down. The cargo box can hold up to 11.5 cubic feet and for that much capacity, you will have to pay $9,600.

 

For those who want a diesel engine with more power, your best bet will be the gator TH compact tractor that offers 854cc 18.5Hp liquid cooled 3 cylinder engine. There is so much power but very limited speed for safety reasons. There are so crazy people out there who will likely want to tweak their vehicle so that they can get it to run faster. That can be fun if you don’t have something better to do with your time. You will also have to wait for the John Deere warranty to run out before you start messing about with your machine. The gator TH diesel will cost $11,800 which is not cheap but for those who require the additional power and overall payload, it is a nice option to have.

 

John Deere compact utility tractor gator HPX 4×4 is designed for those who have to take their vehicle through soft muddy terrains. The 4 wheel drive you get will help you get out of trouble spot and be on your way in no time. The HPX offers 517cc 21Hp gas engine. The cargo box is just as big as the previous gator TH. You get the same type of cooling system with your utility tractor but with only a 2 cylinder engine. That is not a show stopper because you will still get enough power for towing , passenger and cargo. For the joy of having a 4×4 vehicle, you will pay $8,999. That is another way of saying this will cost you $9,000. It can be debatable if you really need a 4 wheel drive tractor. If you don’t really need it, you can still buy one and take it out for fun on rough terrain when you have nothing better to do with your time. After all, who says that compact utility tractors must only be use for work?

 

The gator HPX 4×4 also comes with a diesel engine with 854cc 18.5Hp which is an option that some people might want to consider. You will not go faster nor will you be able to carry more load. What is the point of investing in this if there is obviously no benefit? Well, you get to pay $10,500. That is more than the gas tractor. If you live in an area where diesel is cheaper than gas, you will get return on investment with regular use of your compact utility vehicle.

 

John Deere compact utility tractor gator XUV is a beast because you get 825cc and 50Hp. That will take you up to 44mph. That is simply impressive and definitely worth looking into if only you have $11,400. For that price, you will get to choose between 3 different color schemes. The standard John Deere green and yellow, Olive black and some strange realtree hardwood color pattern. If you were thinking of a pink tractor; you will have to do the painting yourself. The engine is built with electronic fuel injection for maximum efficiency. That also means that mean things go wrong, you will have to pay a profession to fix it. The cargo box is also bigger than the previous cheaper version which can be a reason for choosing the diesel utility tractor

 

The gator XUV 625i is another 4×4 utility vehicle that that will appeal to people who want to drive faster than the speed limit imposed on the cheaper version under $10,000. For $10,200 you will get this 30mph tractor with v-twin cylinder engine. The ironic thing about this offering is that John Deere will sell an option speed limiter if you want to cap your speed at 20mph. The question is, why will you want to purchase a speed limiter? This version only offers 23Hp with only 617cc which isn’t too bad for a work tractor.

 

Finally the most expensive compact utility tractor is the gator XUV 855d 4×4. Why does this cost $12,200 when you don’t get the fastest nor the most powerful engine. Well, you will get the biggest cargo box in the series at 16.4 cubic feet. That is rather impressive but you will be hard pressed to reach 32mph when fully loaded. John Deere will also throw in the Quick-Clamp attaching system so that you can quickly extend the features of your utility vehicle.
